The Lifestyle team provides a vibrant programme of activities to maintain and prolong confidence in one’s physical abilities, mobility, strength and fitness. Our aim is to increase socialisation with others and enhance each person’s self-esteem. Our team encourages creativity and fosters a sense of belonging, as well as maintaining a passion for life by exploring past interests.
Catering
Our Catering team is able to facilitate individual choice and all aspects of special dietary needs. We offer a seasonal selection and variety of freshly prepared meals, including à la carte buffet-style breakfast.
Cafe & Bar
The Alfresco Café and Bar are situated directly behind the grand reception area, enticing all residents and guests to stop and relax indoors or out with a freshly brewed Cappuccino or a crisp Chardonnay. Through the warmer months, the fountain courtyard is accessible from the Café and Bar via the large glass sliding doors enabling the Mediterranean feel to seamlessly flow indoors.
Fine Dining
Fine Dining is a feature at Banfields Aged Care, offered within the attractive surroundings and settings of the elegant dining rooms and is also available in the beautifully appointed intimate Private Dining Room. A varied selection of meals is on offer 7 days a week.
BBQ
Barbecue facilities are available within the landscaped designed gardens offering the opportunity for friends and family to cook and prepare their own meals with their loved ones. Alternatively the Catering team are available to assist on request, whilst you relax and enjoy the beauty and ambiance of the courtyards.
Entertainment
The beautiful Banfields Cinema provides a “Gold Class” cinema experience! Continuing the proud local “Banfields Cinema” tradition. The cinema has showings of the latest releases, documentaries, movies of yesteryear, famous musicals, comedies & more, along with “Saturday Night at the Movies”! Drinks, nibbles, ice-creams and snacks are available and family members are most welcome to join residents. Our cinema also boasts a Foxtel connection, a wonderful way to watch the AFL or NRL grand final, special celebrations, sports, musicals and more.
Private Dining Room
The Private Dining Room can be booked for special occasions and events. Our catering staff and chef are able to cater to all your culinary requests.
Men’s Club & Shed
Banfields boasts an amazing purpose built space for our male residents, which is separate from the residential care area. The Men’s Club was designed with our men in mind and houses a bar, pool table and café. It is decorated with sports memorabilia including original copies of local Grand Prix events. A setting especially wonderful for guest speakers, card games, chess, board games, watching sports on the large TV screen and much more.
Our Men’s Shed, which adjoins the Men’s Club, has an inbuilt work bench along with access to a variety of tools, providing opportunities to build and create wood work and other items of interests. It also accommodates the gardening tools used to work on the raised garden beds growing fresh herbs, vegetables and flowers.
Piano Lounge
This is the perfect luxurious lounge, featuring a baby grand piano, used to host our concerts, entertainers, guest speakers, special entertainment and other performances. A beautiful place for residents to relax, enjoy and feel special in such a grand area.
Wellbeing
Banfields’ wellbeing program provides a holistic approach to each individual resident’s choice, encompassing mind, body and soul, whilst considering the residents’ spiritual and cultural requirements.
Chapel
Banfields has a beautiful intimate chapel, to accommodate and celebrate all denominations of faith. The chapel is also available for private services such as memorial and reflection ceremonies.
Hairdressing, Massage and Beauty Therapy
Banfields offers a range of holistic therapies to enhance residents’ wellbeing. The relaxing surrounds of the Beauty Therapy room will provide for all your beauty and relaxation requirements. Le Salon is a hairdressing parlour onsite with a professional stylist available by appointment.
Gymnasium and Physiotherapy
Banfields provides a fully equipped Gymnasium and Physiotherapy room with all the latest equipment. Our physiotherapist can assess all residents and provide a tailor made program to maintain and improve mobility. The physiotherapist can also guide and implement individual pain management programs where necessary.
Bus Service
Banfields has its own dedicated bus with special features allowing for passengers in wheelchairs to participate in the variety of tours and events our Lifestyle team has on offer each month.
Surroundings
Reception can be found by following the gently curved driveway from the properties entrance on Thompson Avenue leading to the elegant portico facilitating passenger pick up or drop off – the area is large, well lit and protected from the elements. Parking is adjacent and there are two disabled parking bays allocated for those with a disability parking permit.
Access is via the automatic entry doors between the hours of 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am-3.00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. At any other time, access to the building can be gained via the intercom. Visiting hours are not restricted, however are subject to COVID-19 requirements. Staff at Reception are able to assist with any queries and direct you as appropriate.
Courtyards
With a Tuscan influence on our design concept, courtyards have been created to capture the sun. There are elegant water features throughout, with gardens planted to maximise winter sun and summer shade. Gardens have been beautifully established with vine covered pergolas, a variety of citrus trees, rosemary borders and much more. Quiet sitting areas are numerous, for reflection, reading or sharing with family and friends. A glass of wine or a barista made coffee and cake can be enjoyed in our alfresco café / bar courtyard.
The majority of individual rooms have private access to garden or courtyards.
There are a number of walkways providing access to the courtyards and gardens. For residents who enjoy gardening, there are raised garden beds for growing fruits, vegetables and flowers in sunny locations.
Shopping and Eating in Cowes
Banfields Aged Care is located close to local shopping and seaside eateries for residents and their families to enjoy. There is also the possibility to explore the many nearby attractions, including the iconic Penguin Parade and the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Visitor Centre.
Island Dreams
Banfields Aged Care is located at Cowes, Phillip Island in Victoria. Cowes Jetty and the foreshore are only a short walk away providing an ideal spot to watch the island ferry arrive or join a cruise around the bay to spot seals and dolphins.
